The immense discrepancy between the desired quality management systems and the tough reality in most enterprises has been seen repeatedly by the founders throughout their earlier employments. Also the realisation that the systems were maintained only because of the large pressure from an accredited certification body triggered the founders to look for standardised solutions. The fact that most management stand only with words behind their quality management system and the unnecessary costs were an additional motivation to go other ways.

The word quality was removed immediately and we extended our ideas to other management areas like finance and risk. A goal of this change is it to capture the attention of finance- and risk-driven management and thereby increase the acceptance in the enterprises.

The idea continued to develop that we could construct integrated management systems using open-source tools, in order to lower the expensive initial costs and royalties from vendor-specific software.
